Being a person having control of a workplace failed to ensure that as far as practicable the floor of the workplace has an unbroken surface and free from any obstruction that may cause a person to trip or fall.

Background Details

At the Woolworths Karratha store renovations were being undertaken while customers and employees were present in the store. A customer tripped on some bolts protruding from the floor, which had previously been covered by a brick wall. The customer fell to the floor and injured her left ankle and neck.

The defendant pleaded guilty.
