When an inspector visited the construction site for the RAAFA Administration and Clubhouse building in Mandurah as shown in the picture, he observed four of the contractor workers working on the top roof section. The upper level was approximately 8 metres above ground level and had been meshed.
The lower roof section 12 3 to 5.7 metres above ground level but had not been meshed.
None of the workers were wearing fall arrest equipment when the inspector arrived on site and there was no edge protection provided to either roof.
Enquires revealed that fall arrest equipment had been used during the meshing out of the upper roof level but this was not worn when the roof sheeting was being installed.
The case was heard by His Worship Mr Calder SM.
The defendant pleaded not guilty. The penalty was imposed under section 19(6).
