Mr DeGracie was contracted to remove an asbestos cement roof and replace it with a metal roof. On 11 November 1996 he did so without appropriate personal protective equipment or safe work procedures in place to reduce the risks of exposure to the hazards associated with the removal of asbestos cement building products. Other factors were that there was no plastic lining to the trailer bin having the asbestos thrown in it and, there was no barricading or signage in place. |
