The defendant was constructing a two storey residence in Joondalup.
During a routine inspection a WorkSafe Inspector observed four workers pouring a first floor suspended concrete slab. There was no edge protection or perimeter scaffolding around the platform. The workers were observed to be working next to the open edge. The distance a person could fall from the open edge varied from 3.4 to 3.6 metres.
It was practicable for the defendant to have provided edge protection or perimeter scaffolding.
The defendant pleaded guilty. The penalty was imposed under section 22(4).
