Being an employer at a workplace where demolition work other than specified demolition work was being done, failed to ensure that the work was done in accordance with AS2601 in that he failed to ensure that the electrical service within the structure was properly disconnected and sealed off before demolition work commenced.
The defendant was a demolition contractor who was undertaking the demolishion of a two-storey house in Waikiki. A WorkSafe Inspector inspected the demolition site on 2 February 2000, and ascertained that power had not been disconnected on the site where demolition work was being undertaken.
The defendant pleaded guilty.
