Background Details |
The defendant was engaged by another company to demolish a factory and office site in O'Connor. The defendant engaged a subcontractor to do the work. The building was approximately 80m by 20m and was 6m high. A WorkSafe Inspector inspected the site and found broken asbestos cement building materials, stacks of roof timber, broken concrete and roof steel scattered about the site. A search of WorkSafe records revealed that neither the defendant nor the subcontractor held the necessary demolition licence to carry out the work.
