The defendant was a building company engaged to build a two storey house in Dianella. A concrete business was engaged to pour concrete for a suspended slab on the first floor of the house. On 11 September 2002 two employees of the concrete business commenced to pour concrete on the firsrt floor where there was no edge protection around the formwork. The height from the formwork to the ground was 2.7 metres. When interviewed, the construction manager for the defendant stated that the failure to have edge protection was an oversight by the site supervisor. The defendant pleaded guilty. |
