A complaint was received by the department in relation to asbestos cement material being removed from the roof of a premises in East Victoria Park . From 3 May 2004 to 6 May 2004 the defendant carried out class 3 demolition work when it removed approximately 1400 meters square of asbestos cement roof sheeting from a building in East Victoria Park. At all relevant times the defendant operated a roof plumbing and construction business in Perth Western Australia and did not hold a licence to do class 1 or class 3 demolition work as required by regulation 3.117(3) of the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations 1996 (WA). The defendant pleaded guilty. The defendant had a previous conviction for an offence under Section 19(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984. |
