On 26 February 1996 a 20 year old apprentice cabinet maker was injured using a Heinrich Brandt KM44 edge bander for the purpose of gluing PVC edging materials to the edges of chipboard. The employee had cleaned the first pressure roller with BP solvent and a scraper when a fire broke out causing burns to his right arm, ears, eyes and hair. The manufacturer had recommended that ACMOS 47 be used for cleaning the rollers. Deltana Pty Ltd pleaded guilty to the charge. |
