On 28 October 1996 asbestos cement roof sheeting was being removed from a dwelling under renovation without the use of appropriate personal protective equipment or safe work procedures in place to reduce the risks of exposure to the hazards associated with the removal of asbestos cement building products. A member of the public (who original made a complaint) alleged that asbestos cement roof sheets were being deliberately broken by the persons performing the removal work and were not wearing any personal protective equipment. It was alleged that the work method generated large amounts of dust. |
