Background Details |
A casual staff member of the employer, was using an occy strap to collect trolleys. As he was pulling the occy strap tight it came away from the trolley and hit him in the eyes. The injured employee lost 50 % vision in his left eye. The Magistrate during sentencing comments indicated that this incident pre-dated the death of a child in Karratha arising from the use of an occy strap for similar purposes. A not guilty plea was entered. |
